American fisherman accidentally catches a 6-foot alligator

Rob Birchmeier was fishing in his kayak in a South Carolina swamp when he got the fright of his life. He thought he had hooked a ray, but it turned out to be an alligator about eight feet long.
On May 20, Birchmeier was single-handedly fishing for flounder from his 10-foot (4-meter) kayak. Images from the local newspaper show that he has caught 'something'. "I think I've hooked a stingray," the fisherman exclaims in the video he was shooting at the time. But out of the swirling, brown water, it's not a stingray that emerges, but a large alligator. "Surprise," Birchmeier says in "I was as surprised as I could be when the alligator surfaced," Birchmeier told the local newspaper about the moment. "It could even have been a mermaid, and I would have been just as surprised.” Finally, the alligator straightened the hook that stuck in its hind leg. This removed the animal from the leash and allowed it to swim away again in the dark water. Phew!

In this edition of Happy Hour we play two tracks by D Fine Us and we have the item "Happy with the Bieb aan den IJssel". Ellen Bommeljé will talk about the book "Youth" by Tove Ditlevsen . Tove Irma Margit Ditlevsen (Copenhagen, Denmark, December 14, 1917, died March 7, 1976) was a Danish writer and poet . Translations of her literary prose into Dutch appeared for the first time in 2020, of the autobiographical Copenhagen trilogy from 1967-1971: "Childhood", "Youth" and "Dependence".

The CD of the Month is: Now and then - Paul Stanley's Soul Station . The world got to know Paul Stanley (Queens, New York, January 20, 1952) in the 1970s as the face-painted frontman of KISS . Behind that tough exterior, it turned out that a passionate soul lover was hiding. In 2015, the singer founded the Soul Station orchestra, with which he performed in America and Japan. Now there is the album, which in line with the title contains covers of old soul songs, supplemented with a handful of new songs. Everything shows that this is not a hobby project for the 69-year-old American. He is joined by musicians, backing singers and arrangers with a history of such greats as Steven Tyler, Whitney Houston, Bonnie Raitt, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole and Stevie Wonder. So everything sounds good.
The choice for songs like "Could it be I'm falling in love" (The Spinners) and "The Tracks of my Tears" (Smokey Robinson & The Miracles) may not be very exciting, but the execution and enthusiasm make up for it. This also applies to Stanley himself, who sings everything with an infectious enthusiasm. The surprising highlight of the record is the exuberant "I do" written by the singer himself. It deserves respect when someone at such an age realizes a childhood dream, especially when it produces an album that makes a person happy. Therefore CD of the Month!

Have fun listening!

Decade Dick: Almost all participants passed the traffic exam

Freek Bredius was a guest in Decennium Dick on behalf of Safe Traffic Netherlands department Krimpen aan den IJssel. He was able to tell us that 421 children participated in the practical traffic exam today. All but five children passed. Congratulations to all! The children who did not make it turned out to have cycled on the route with their hands free. The route started and ended at the Tuyter. Mayor Martijn Vroom was present to officially start the first class. 7.3 Kilometers was cycled and the children of the groups 7 and 8 passed all kinds of difficult intersections and traffic situations in Krimpen aan den IJssel. What was very annoying and difficult was that there have been young people who removed or turned around signs from the route. In addition, some plates are irreparably damaged. It was the first time that this happened on the day of the traffic test. Your browser does not support this audio player. You can download the file . Also in this edition of Decennium Dick a...
