Ennio Morricone died at the age of 91. The Italian composer died in a hospital in Rome from the consequences of a fall, writes the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera .

Morricone's family says that the composer died on the night of July 5-6. The funeral is performed in private. He is considered one of the most influential film composers of the twentieth century. His soundtrack to the western “ Once upon a Time in the West” became one of the most successful film music albums ever with over ten million copies sold.

During his career, Morricone composed over five hundred soundtracks for films and television. Among his works are compositions for films such as the aforementioned “ Once upon a Time in The West” , " The Untouchables" and " The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" . In recent years, Morricone also collaborated with the American director Quentin Tarrantino on the film “ The Hateful Eight” . Morricone received an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award for his work on that film. Morricone performed in a sold out Ahoy in 2017. Two years earlier he gave a performance in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. In memory we play two Jukebox Giants of this giant.

Country rock legend Charlie Daniels , known for the Grammy-winning hit 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia', died in a hospital in Tennessee on Monday. The singer turned 83. Daniels, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and country music program Grand Ole Opry, died of a stroke. His publicity agent Don Murry Grubbs said this in a statement. Daniels started writing and making music in the 1950s. In 1964 he co-authored Elvis Presley's song “It Hurts Me”. He also worked as a session musician for producer Bob Johnston and has been featured on three Bob Dylan albums in 1969 and 1970.

In 1971 Daniels recorded his first solo album, "Charlie Daniels". It was not until 1973 that he scored his first real hit with “Uneasy Rider”. In the same period Daniels played on several albums of the Marshall Tucker Band. In later years he was successful as leader of the Charlie Daniels Band, including with the rock song "The South's gonna do it again". His most famous hit came out in 1979: "The Devil went down to Georgia". The song earned Daniels a Grammy Award for best country singer. In the late 80s and 90s, several albums by Daniels made the country hit lists. That is why we play the above single this afternoon.

Have fun listening!
