Sailboat loses mast at Algera bridge

A sailing boat lost its mast on Sunday morning at the Algera bridge between Capelle aan den IJssel and Krimpen aan den IJssel. The skipper wanted to pass under the bridge, but the mast hit the bridge. The ship was stuck under the bridge for a while, until the mast broke off. It was not completely finished immediately. "At first it was half off", says a spokesman for the Rotterdam-Rijnmond Safety Region. "Then the fire brigade was called in to loosen the mast."
There were no injuries in the collision. It is not known whether there is damage to the bridge.

Man survives eighteen days in Australian wilderness

A 58-year-old man who had been missing in the Australian wilderness for 18 days has been found safe and sound. Robert Weber survived by drinking water from a dam and eating mushrooms.
