New children's council Krimpen aan den IJssel

During a special council meeting, the sixth children's council of Krimpen aan den IJssel was installed on Tuesday 3 November. Nine Krimpen primary schools participate in this children's council. each school sends two pupils to the children's council. Eighteen children together form the children's council. Mayor Martijn Vroom: “It is special that we have a new children's council in Krimpen aan den IJssel during this time of the Corona. Even now it remains important that children are ambassadors for all children of Krimpen. That way, the important topics for children remain on the agenda. ”

Who are on the children's council

Children from group 8 of the Krimpense primary schools form the children's council. They represent all children in the municipality of Krimpen aan den IJssel. During the installation meeting, the children's council members introduced themselves at their favorite spot in Krimpen on the basis of a selfie. They also confirmed an agreement that mayor Martijn Vroom has made with them.

What does the children's council do?

The children's council engages with each other and with others about what is important to children. They do this, for example, with the children's ombudsman. The children's ombudsman requests the help of the children's council in an investigation into schemes for children living in poverty. The children's council will also work on plans submitted by the various Krimpen primary schools. In addition, the children's council will be present at various festivities in Krimpen.

Man survives eighteen days in Australian wilderness

A 58-year-old man who had been missing in the Australian wilderness for 18 days has been found safe and sound. Robert Weber survived by drinking water from a dam and eating mushrooms.
