Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen (born 9/23/1949 in Freehold / New Jersey), American rock singer. He is also called The Boss.
At the age of thirteen, Bruce Springsteen bought his first second-hand guitar and learned to play the instrument as an autodidact. After escaping military service through pretended homosexuality, he formed several bands, before moving to New York City in 1971 to the artist neighborhood of Greenwich Village to pursue a career as a solo musician. He had the opportunity to present himself to the record company "Columbia Records" with self-composed and self-written songs on which he received a contract in 1972 and not much later founded the formation "E Street Band" . After two unsuccessful record productions, things got better in the mid-1970s and he was called the "future of rock and roll" and he was considered a worthy successor to Bob Dylan. In 1981 he breaks through with the classic 'The River' . Springsteen garnered worldwide recognition with the album "Born in the USA" (1984). The theme of this album is the Vietnam War and its social consequences for the American soldiers who fought there. More information?
