Attentive waitress rescues 11-year-old boy from abusive parents.

In Orlando, Florida, a waitress rescued an 11-year-old boy who was severely abused by his stepfather and mother. When the family visited her restaurant, the woman noticed that the boy was not getting any food while the rest of the family was enjoying themselves. She also saw that he had scratches and bruises, after which she - behind the back of parents - asked the child via a letter if he needed help. The boy then nodded yes, after which she called the police.
The conscious family, consisting of two adults, a boy and a girl, entered the restaurant towards the end of their shift. Food was ordered for everyone except the boy. Carvalho noticed that the child was not fed and was quiet while his table mates were talking and playing loudly. When the woman walked over to their table to ask if everything was okay with their order, one of the parents said the boy would get his food home. It was then that she began to seriously suspect that something was wrong. "You don't refuse a child to eat," she says in the American media.
Despite hiding in a hoodie wearing a face mask, the woman saw that the boy had bruises on the sides of his face and on his arm. He also had a scratch wound between his eyebrows. “I thought I had to do something. I couldn't let him leave without help, ”says the woman, who realized that she literally had to communicate with the boy behind the back of the parents. The waitress then wrote on a piece of paper 'are you okay?', Stood behind the parents so they couldn't see her, and held it up in front of the 11-year-old child. The boy nodded 'no'. Then the woman asked, using the same method, if the boy needed help, to which he nodded "yes" and made a gesture with his hands, indicating that he did not know what to do.
Carvalho knew enough and called her boss to inform him of the situation. Then she immediately called 911, where she explained the situation to the dispatcher and asked for advice. The police then arrived and questioned the child. The boy explained that he was being maltreated by his stepfather: he was beaten with a wooden broom, hung upside down on a door and regularly denied food 'as punishment'.
After Carvalho called the police, the boy was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries. There it turned out that the child was at least ten kilos too light for his age. The doctors also found bruises and contusions all over his body. "It's torture that this child went through," said Orlando Police Department Detective Erin Lawler. “I am a mother myself and to see what has been done to this eleven-year-old ... It shocks you to the depths of your soul,” the woman said with tears in her eyes at a press conference. "Had Mrs. Carvalho not intervened, this little boy probably wouldn't have been with us much longer." This is confirmed by police chief Orlando Rolon: “Two children were saved by her. Had she not intervened, we probably would have had a possible murder investigation on our plate. ”
The stepfather, Timothy Lee Wilson II, was immediately arrested in the restaurant, and a few days later the child's mother, Kristen Swann, was also arrested after the boy also made accusatory statements against her. The boy's stepfather has been charged several times with aggravated child abuse and neglect. The mother, who would have known about the abuse but never intervened, has been charged with neglect. A four-year-old child was put out of the home after her parents' arrest, but would not have been abused. The parents have been transferred to Orange County Jail.
A GoFundMe page has now been created for 'local heroine' Flavaine Carvalho, where people can donate money. MORE THAN RIGHT!

Mayor Martijn Vroom was present to officially start the first class. 7.3 Kilometers was cycled and the children of the groups 7 and 8 passed all kinds of difficult intersections and traffic situations in Krimpen aan den IJssel. It was the first time that this happened on the day of the traffic test. Your browser does not support this audio player. You can download the file . Also in this edition of Decennium Dick a...
