Possibly Fieldlab church service in Krimpen

Thursday evening April 1 in Decennium Dick an extended with Mayor Martijn Vroom to look back on the past week. Through Teams I spoke with the mayor tonight about the impasse, the polarization and how we hope to get out of this situation together.

POLARIZATION

This week for the churches 'The silent week' it is the week of Good Friday and the following Easter. But it was not quiet in Krimpen aan den IJssel. It was restless with a journalist being kicked in the stomach and a firework bomb that exploded near the 'Oude Gereformeerde Kerk in the Netherlands' popularly known as the Mieraskerk. There is polarization. The full city council issued a joint statement this week. The mayor calls it 'the basis for a lot of good that is yet to come'. But the mayor also realizes that more is needed to regain peace in Krimpen: 'Without outside help, I think we will not just get out as a village, so we have already discussed this road a number of times. had with the ministry and with a number of ministers. At the ministry there is a team that can help if there is a lot of polarization, from - how do you get out of that -. '

EXTREME SITUATION ...

This morning the mayor formally asked if this team could indeed come and help. Normally, this team only comes to help in extreme situations. Mayor: 'I think we do qualify for that now, so we will really take a look at that together and with the municipal council, how can we now find our way forward together, because the way things are now not good.' The people in the team will help in the process of ensuring that no camps are chosen, that the polarization is lessened. People with an objective view and a professional view. The mayor has promised that the team will be on the way, but also realizes that it is not 'arranged on the fly.'

FIELDLAB Church service

Mayor: 'We are also going to see if we can organize a Fieldlab for the churches ... to see if you have a festival Fieldlab or a football match, why not a church service. Well, then I said: that could very well be done in Krimpen. You are going to test very well and that you are going to find a very emphatic way to try a Corona-free church service. Before and after tests and very strict conditions, but imagine if it works! In any case, it indicates that we are looking for an exit to get out of the deadlock. This afternoon there was consultation about the Fieldlab church service. Mayor Vroom: 'We are trying to make it to Krimpen aan den IJssel, but that also depends, among other things, on the cooperation of the churches.' Minister Grapperhaus supports the initiative. The CIO is working on the proposal.

EASTER WEEKEND

In the long Easter weekend that follows, the mayor hopes that we can all experience the weekend in peace. 'Easter is the start of a new beginning, a lot of people now also experience that spring is beginning and that nature is waking up again, that we meet each other. I hope that people will take the opportunity to spend it calm and calm with each other: only at a distance. Much more digital than we would actually like. ' Finally, the mayor warns to keep a good distance in the parks, so that more misery does not occur. And he wishes you all a good Easter weekend.

Municipalities support National Moluccan Monument

This year it will be 70 years ago that the 1st generation Moluccans were transferred to the Netherlands in 1951 with 12 ship transports. On command, about 4000 Moluccan KNIL soldiers and Navy men came to the Netherlands with their families (in total 12,500 persons). At the point of arrival of the 1st transport ship at the Lloydkade in Rotterdam, it is not yet possible to trace a historical event. The National Moluccan Monument Foundation (LMM) is committed to realizing a monument. The monument will be a tribute to this 1st generation Moluccans and their families and in recognition of the shared past. The monument can also serve to continue telling the story of the arrival of Moluccans in the Netherlands to current and future generations. For anyone interested in this history, the foundation wants to offer an opportunity to learn more. They believe that more knowledge of each other's past leads to more understanding. To realize a monument, the LMM foundation has entered into a p

Largest water lily in the world blooms in Leiden

The oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands, the Hortus Botanicus in Leiden, has a wonderful pineapple scent. That means that the Victoria Amazonica is in bloom. With leaves that can grow up to two meters wide, this is the largest water lily in the world and its flowers smell like pineapple. The flower of the Victoria Amazonica is a night bloomer and only blooms in high summer. What is special is that the water lily only blooms for two nights. Rogier de Vugt, cashier of the Leiden Hortus Botanicus, knows everything about the plant. "The first night the flower is white and gives off a strong pineapple smell, which attracts beetles. The second night the flower turns pink and has no smell anymore. The beetles still come to it and are covered with pollen", explains De Vugt. Because the plant has an enormous size, only one can grow in the pond of the Hortus. "The leaves have raised edges, so they can't grow over each other, so they can't get any light anymore. Th
